The Ainslie Football and Social Club (AFSC) will have its Centenary year in 2027. As the longest established football Club in the ACT, our goal is to grow and support Australian Rules Football for generations to come. To enable this vision the Club have developed a strategic plan.
Within this plan AFSC engaged Urban Designers and Landscape Architects at SPACELAB to design a Masterplan of the “Alan Ray Oval” with the following brief:
SPACELAB have designed a masterplan that achieves all of these aspirations. To proceed with this Masterplan, AFSC intend to lodge a Territory Plan Variation across the areas of site generally north of the oval. The Territory Plan Variation will enable the land which is currently occupied by carparks, to be redeveloped predominately for the relocation of the club so it interfaces with the “Alan Ray Oval”, a hotel to be built above the club, and as “age in place” housing. The development of this form of housing will enable provision of much needed housing diversity to the Inner-North.
The Masterplan is also designed to enshrine and protect the Alan Ray Oval, which is privately owned by the Club as its key centrepiece. The oval is not a concessional lease or government land.
The oval will be retained and improved with landscaping associated with the masterplan assisting with the improvement of the oval for public benefit.
